Feeling generous

There was no birthday party or special occasion. I just gave her a Caprisun for the hell of it. She is so over them now. She threw it away after only drinking half of it. Old news now I guess.

I will post pictures from the weekend when I get them. Mallory took her to the zoo while we were at the game Saturday and took some very cute pictures. Will post soon.

Meet Martha

Meet Martha. Martha Monkey. She is the latest addition to Emerson's "take it wit me, needs to sit right dere, can I take it in the car" club. She is affectionately named after the wonderful friend that gave her to Emerson. Every morning when she starts crying for me to go get her out of bed, she has Roar cinched very tight under her arm and insists that she take him if I try and put him back in the bed. This morning Martha was released from the crib bars and made it on the outside...at least for awhile. She was made to sit, with Roar, on this chair to "watch me eat breakpast". It took her a few minutes and one small melt down to get them situated just so.
The hats came out today. We have not seen the hats in awhile. I had thought the accessory phase had passed, but I guess not. Now we must wear ALL of the hats at one time. She cracks herself up.

Poor Baker. He thought he jumped up on Denny's lap to get some lovin'. A little sun hat never hurt anyone.

The Gurls

Emerson waits for "The Gurls"- Emily, Lauren and Mallory to get home from school most days. They live next door to us. She loves to play with them and hears them like radar. Today they came over to play. They had a "surprise b-day party" with Emerson's wooden birthday cake.On a much more serious note- someone took my sweet, affectionate, outgoing and obedient little girl and I want her back. I am telling myself she must be going to cut one hell of a tooth soon and this is the reason for her recent change in behavior. She has run me raged today and most of the weekend with her whines, cries for nothing, "No's" and "Stop it's". Oh wait, I forgot the "Leave me alone." Everything breaks her heart and is a battle. Naps these days- all but non-existent. I have let her cry for up to one hour and she will not let up until I go get her up. On a positive note, she has come to realize that she will not win the "Refuses to eat" battle and we do get to eat most meals peacefully. Most.

I am trying to be consistent and hope this phase (Please Lord Jesus let this be a phase) will pass soon. Do they make 5, 6 or 7 day a week Mother's Day out programs? Just checking...

Denny's response to this new behavior has been- "What are you going to do about that?"

City Park

The weather has been so nice this week. I took Emerson for a morning of fun at City Park's new kids playground. She had fun playing and climbing. We had a bench picnic filled with yummy snacks and fruit.

We had a very busy weekend. Luke's 1st B-day party was Friday night, Jack and Emmaline's 2ND B-day was Saturday morning and then the game with lots of friends Saturday night. Looking forward to this week with some much cooler weather.

Go Tigers

Yeah Tigers for that great win Saturday!

Just one of the boys

Emerson loves to play with Josh and Jackson from across the street. If she hears them outside, she insists on going over to play. Yesterday evening, lots of the kids from our street were outside playing and the ice cream truck passed.

Normally, she would be freaking that it was all over her and her clothes, but she could care less when she is with the boys. All of the kids are older than Emerson and they usually start playing a big kids game like softball or something. She just hangs back and takes it all in.

Once we got her home and cleaned up it was time for dinner. Yes, she had her dessert first. In Jackson, fun Aunt Shell let Isabella, Avery and Emerson make their own mini pizzas one night. AND I am SO fun they got to decorate and eat their own sugar cookie. I am so cool right now... Emerson really got into this, so I have decided we may do this every Friday night. She gets to make her own. Now keep in mind she eats more pepperoni than is actually on her pizza, but it is all about her doing it by herself.

The Snake Charmer

Today was Emerson's first day at school and she had a blast. A lot of her friends from last year are in her class this year also. She had an accident in her big girl panties, but it is still a work in progress.

I mentioned awhile back about going to a birthday party down the street for Emerson's friend Isabelle. There was an exotic petting zoo there. Remember me talking about how much Em loved the snake? Well, here is proof...
Check out this "OH BRITTANY, HONEY, I AM SOO CUTER THAN YOU WERE WITH A SNAKE" smirk on her face! She thought she was something else.

Vacuming in her panties

As with most mornings, Emerson vacuums with me. Today she vacuumed with a fake cupcake out of her kitchen and her Roar. I told her she needed to focus, but she would not have it. She also insisted that she wear only her shirt and her panties-no pants. Check out those big girl panties by the way...

She is very attached to Roar these days. He has always stayed in her bed and she can snug up to him when she goes to sleep. These days she wants to have him out and around all the time.

She starts school on Friday- thank goodness.

Happy Birthday Aunt Liz!

Back at Home...Waiting for Ike

Emerson and I came home Saturday from Jackson, MS where we stayed until we got power at home. Scott, Amanda, Isabella and Avery are so good to us and they are very special friends.

Emerson missed Denny alot and commented often that he was at home cutting the grass or washing the cars. This is why he was not with us in her mind. To be honest, she wanted to stay with Bella and Avery and did not want to come home. However she was very excited to see her daddy AND Baker when we got home.

I don't have many pics to post. I did not think to pack the camera to go to Jackson and I packed so fast to get on the road I just forgot about it. I did take a few during the Hurricane.A snack, a drink and a portable DVD player. What more do you need?

Poor Baker. He just wanted to go outside.
We are so lucky to have only lost our fence and the contents of our fridge and freezer. And to only have been out of power for 4 days is great. Some people will be weeks.

We are all watching Hurricane Ike now.

Hurricane Gustav

So, Me and Emerson packed it up and headed to Jackson, MS Tuesday after riding out the storm at home. We are doing fine here with the our friends the Overby's, but we are missing Denny lots. We plan to stay here until we get power. Hopefully Denny will join us here in Jackson for a few days. Emerson is having a ball running and playing with Isabella and Avery and really has no clue what is happening at home. It must be great to be a kid!

I hope everyone is safe and did not suffer too much damage from the storm. We really got lucky I think.
