Let It Shine Ceremony

The PreK and K classes at Dunham, have The Let It Shine Ceremony at school, instead of a Graduation Ceremony.  Such a sweet time when each child is rewarded with what makes that child special.  They award each one with a certificate that shows their Christ like characteristic and a Bible verse is read to reinforce that trait.  Last year, Emerson was rewarded with the gift of Being Enthusiastic.  This year, Emerson and one other child was rewarded for Being Considerate.  One of the examples used was that if a friend drops books in the hall or falls on the playground, these kids would be the first to help them pick up their books or help them up. We could not have been more proud of her!

Another year in black and white

When Emerson was 1 year old, she started going to the Mother's Day Out Program at Jefferson Baptist.  I have often talked about what a great Program it is.  Emerson is still friends with some of the kids she met during her years there.  As part of the Program, they would take a black and white head shot of the kids.  We love that style photo, so we have continued having a head shot taken each year.  Well, and to also send her picture portfolio in to castings for commercials and TV shows... Ha.  Kidding of course!  You can imagine the shock of how she has grown when you look at it like this.

 1 year old

 2 years old

3 years old

4 years old

5 years old

So many things have changed and so many have stayed the same in her face and expression. The 6 year old picture should be interesting.  Between the 5th and 6th year is the time when I changed so drastically people barely recognized me.  You can see how dark her hair is getting so I guess it is coming.

Super Powers

Emerson and Kaka had their usual Wednesday play date together. They did lunch, played at the playground and made "super power bands".  She says they allow her to control whatever she wants.  Especially Duncan she says.

Easter 2012

Emerson and the Bunny match this year.  Wonder what age she is not going to think it is cool to take a picture with Santa or the Easter Bunny?

Some Bunny was not happy with us!

Clearly Emerson wrote her letter to the Easter Bunny.  I LOVE IT!

She was the most excited about this chocolate bunny with fairy wings.  Oh, and the fact that the Easter Bunny shops at Target.

We have spent this Easter Break sick.  No big surprise right!  Emerson and I have both had colds and now Emerson is trying to get over a stomach virus.  Starting back at school will be a welcome break for us.  All of our fun plans had to be put aside for another time. I did get to take her and Evie to see Mirror, Mirror between the cold and the stomach virus, so at least she got to do something fun over her time off.
