All is right with the her world

We made our weekly trip to the grocery store. Today she got bubbles, fruit loops (thanks Kim) and some chips to have with her lunch. It is totally against my better judgement to purchase such cereals as Fruit Loops, but she gets to eat them at Aunt Kim's and she LOVES them. So, she started telling me last night that we needed to get some fruit loops at the store and today she told me they were "on the list" as we were shopping. So I have decided to use them as power and it seems to be working so far. The bubbles. Well, on a recent trip to Wal-mart she asked for new bubbles because she was out. I told her we would get some at the store. We found a small bottle and she wanted to hold it- of course. I told her she could as long as she did not open them. She agreed not to open them and proceeded to open the bottle three times. I told her if she opened them again that I would put them back on the shelf and we would leave without them. She responds "No we won't". We left with no bubbles. Today, she asked for bubbles again and knew better!
It was a beautiful day today, we played outside most of it and had fun with her new bubbles. She is the happiest 2 year old I know- bubbles, fruit loops, chips and a sucker. Isn't life grand!

Princess shoes

As a "prize" we brought her some blue princess shoes from New Orleans. She was thrilled to say the least. She is getting the hang of walking around in shoes that are too big for her. It only made her furious before, but she is figuring it out. She asked why she did not get pink shoes- what nerve!
She says she can now go to the castle to see the prince- her daddy!

Happy Anniversary to us!

So, yes this blog is supposed to be for Emerson, but without us she would not be here! Denny and I celebrated our 10th anniversary Thursday. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. We celebrated by spending a long relaxing weekend at a B&B in New Orleans that was wonderful. We ate at places we had never eaten before, strolled around the town and slept in Saturday and Sunday morning. It was very nice! Thank You to everyone that helped with Emerson. She could have cared less that we were gone. Thank you guys again. We really appreciate it.

Insectarium photos

This was one of the first exhibits and they both got into it.
This is the "Bug Love" car. The front window is a movie screen and it is playing movies about the mating rituals of bugs...Nice thing for the kids to be watching. I think Lance enjoyed it!
Look close and you can see the alligator Emerson is sitting on. She is going on and on..."He's not wheel, he won't bite me".
We are in the Butterfly exhibit that is made like a hot, moist Japanese garden. Butterflies are everywhere. They will land on you if you are still. She is mad that she can't pet them.
Emerson is already talking about going back.

Children's Museum Photos

Here are a few pictures from the Children's Museum.

This was her favorite part. She got to shop like she was at a real grocery store. It was very cute and very authentic. Of course, she loved the cash register the most.
Emerson making a constellation.
Emerson and Denny in a bubble.Emerson trying to make her own bubbles. This was a very messy play station!!
The Kids Cafe where Emerson spent most of her time at the coffee machine.

Children's Museum and the Insectarium

What a fun Saturday!! We took Emerson to the Children's Museum in New Orleans. We then met up with Lance, Amy and Wyatt for lunch the Insectarium and some shopping and ice cream.

We had not been to the Museum or the Insectarium yet and they are both great places for the kids. The Museum was fun for Emerson to play. She got to go shopping in a mini grocery store and play the kids cafe. I thought she would really like the kitchen part and really want to serve us food. She was only really interested in the coffee pot and the mop. HMMM...interesting why she would be drawn to those items. The Insectarium is fabulous and very well done. There were a few things that freaked her out, but most of all she liked the bugs. We went into the theatre to watch a small movie and it was interactive. The seats moved and wind and water blew in your face. She was not thrilled! They even have a bug cafe where you can test dips and snacks made with worms and other bugs. Denny and I were the only 2 brave enough- or stupid enough to taste. We had promised the kids ice cream, so we headed to Lakeside for ice cream and Pottery Barn kids for Amy.

Emerson had a fun time. We are really beginning to realize how fast she is growing up. We did not use a stroller until we got to the mall and she went to the whole day without a nap! On the way home we just knew she would crash, but she didn't. It was early to bed for her!

I will post the pics from the day in a few.

Playdate

Ever since New Years, Emerson has been asking for Evie to come back over and play "princess" with her again. So today Evie came over. They had lots of fun dressing up, coloring and dancing. They had SEVERAL wardrobe changes and loved pretending to be "princess sisters". For lunch I let them make their own pizza's. They ate well and as a special treat we made cookies and they got to decorate the cookies with lots and lots of sprinkles. Evie even brought Emerson a Snowhite dress of hers that is too small for her now. Emerson will not take it off- she napped in it!

As Onnie pointed out- you know the girls are getting old when they start having friends over!

One for Emerson. One for the ducks.

After school today, I took Emerson to the LSU lakes to feed the ducks. There were SO many, she did not know what to do at first. They all but took her down. I managed to get a few shots while making sure they did not eat her. We fed them lots of old bread and quickly ran out. I got lots of snacks out of her bag to feed them. She was not real interested in sharing HER snacks at first. She figured she would take a bite then give them a few. She has a mouth full here.

"Momma, I gonna hab dis one." She could not bare to give the ducks the mini-strawberry fig newtons.

Generosity at its purest

Emerson: Daddy, you have a hole in your pants. You need to get some new pants at the store.

Denny: But I don't have any money.

Emerson: You can have my piggy bank Daddy.

Denny and I realize everyday that you can not underestimate the mind of a child.

Cinderelli Cinderelli

This little girl is such a princess. She stays in a "princess" dress, crown and some sort of jewels- these days a ring. She constantly reminds us that she has no "princess" shoes. When she has on the blue dress she tell us she needs blue shoes and when she is wearing one of her pink dresses it is the pink shoes she is missing. Then day she started pointing out the colors of the shoes she needs, I actually found a pink and a blue pack of shoes that includes rings and bracelets. I will let Cupid or the Easter Bunny know right away.
She wants to dance and spin alot and wants you to dance with her. And when you agree, she tells you that you are the prince.
She is growing so independent and wants to do EVERYTHING by herself. 30 months old- wow where does the time go.

Check out these two. You would have thought I punished them and made them sit and read, but I had nothing to do with this. They came up with it all on their own.

Playin' in the rain AGAIN!

Mickey Mouse was in full force this weekend. She wore the ears and danced around singing the theme song to Mickey Mouse Club House.
This raincoat thing has really gotten out of control. The whole ensemble has been upgraded to include her umbrella. So of course when the rain set in Saturday she had to be out in it. She was not real thrilled with me when it started to lightening and I made her come inside.

New Years Eve

Here are the New Year's Eve Princesses- Evie and Emerson. They played in their princess attire all evening long.

Emerson had a blast with the sparklers and firecrackers. If it would not have been so cold, I think she would have wanted to stay out longer to see all the fireworks.

We hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year's Eve. Looking forward to 2009.
