Breakfast with Santa

We spent last Saturday AM doing the breakfast with Santa rounds.  First the Dunham one and then the one at Denny's Office.

CBI Santa Breakfast...

Busy morning...  Then we headed to Lafayette to spend some time there shopping and waiting for sundown to do the Christmas lights of Acadiana.

Back to School, Louisiana Projects and Cajun Nite

We spent the first half of the Thanksgiving Holidays working on the large 3rd Grade Louisiana Projects that were due the day they returned back to school from the holiday break.  Each child had to make a Louisiana Alphabet book with pretty detailed instructions of what had to be included and how it had to be put together.  It had to include pictures the kids drew, pictures of your child with the landmark, brochures, postcards and articles about the items.  It was very time consuming, but very interesting.  We learned a lot as a family.  In the end, it was cool to see it all come together.  The other part of the project, was that each child had to make a model of a LA landmark. Emerson chose a New Orleans Street Car.  Denny helped her with this part.  Came out great.  All of these projects came together and were presented at Cajun Nite.  3rd Grader and their parents shared a meal together and the kids displayed their projects. Some pretty amazing work these kids did!

Emerson ended up pretty sick with the flu the weekend before she was to return to school from the break.  She missed almost all that week back at school, but got to turn in her projects on time. And ended up making a 100% on both projects.  We are all pretty proud of that!

Happy Thanksgiving

 Thanksgiving 2014

Em with Graham and Grayson in St. Amant.

St. Jude Walk and Girls on the Run stuff

We did the St. Jude Walk for Reid with Amy and lots of friends.  What a big event it was.  Traffic was crazy, but all for the best cause.
Over the Thanksgiving break, Emerson's Girls on the Run Team did a practice 5K to prepare for the Marathon.  I was shocked to see how well these kids did and how far they could run with a little motivation from their buddies!

School House Rocks

Another Manship Theatre event.  This one was more anticipated by the adults than the kids.  Em and Lila knew what to expect and they have seen the School House Rocks we grew up on.  I must say it was fabulous.  Due to time, they couldn't do all the songs, but it was so so good!  I sang the entire time!

T'was the Night Before Christmas is next at Manship.  Stayed tuned...

House guests

Lots to catch up on.  Not enough time in the day.  Several weeks back, we had lots of fun with house guests.  Bella and Avery stayed with us over the weekend and then we had Bridget and Rumi in from Austin, Tx for the day on a Sunday.  Rumi is getting a baby brother in January, so this was their last trip until after the baby is born.  We had no idea he would take to three girls the way he did.  They were at his beacon call and he worked all three of them for sure!  Needless to say the three girls were exhausted from chasing after toddler all day.

Pretty fun weekend! It's always good to have the girls around.  Emerson somehow ends up a few years older when they leave!

Curious George

The Girls (Em and Lila) went to Curious George Sunday at The Manship Theatre.  They are members of the Kids Club, so there were crafts, snacks and fun before the performance.  They are a bit too old for Curious George at this point, but they both LOVED the monkey so much as kids, they just had to go.  This little backdrop was set up and pretty cute until Emerson almost knocked one of the trees over.  Adults came running and we saved it before it fell on a small child.  Leave it to my child...

They got their face painted, had some snacks and did some crafts.  Then it was time for the show.

Pretty darn cute play.  And the guy that played George...Seriously he was awesome.  He sounded exactly like Curious George and spoke in well, monkey, the entire play.

Dunham Carnival and Sleepover with Lila

Pretty busy weekend for us.  Friday night was Halloween and Saturday was the school Carnival.  The Honor Choir preformed at the Carnival. They did a pretty good job.

Emerson decided to try the Rock Wall.

And now a friend decides to cheer her on... when he thought no one was looking!

Emerson was sleeping over at Lila's for the first time in their new house.  The rest of their afternoon was full of other activities.  The went and checked out Troop A Day.
They decided to try this Rock Wall out also.  She did a little better on this one.

These two have a good time anywhere they are together! Next was home to freshen up and then on to a movie and dinner.

I think these 2 young ladies went to bed exhausted after a fun filled day together.  Tomorrow, brunch, Manship Kids Club activities and Curious George.
