Emerson's 6th Birthday Party

This should get me almost caught up I think.
We have so many favorite pics from her party, I could not post them all.  Here is a highlight of some of the ones we love.

Daddy Daughter Day

There have been many over these weeks this summer and Emerson is so lucky to have such a hands on Dad.  Denny and Em took off one Saturday and had breakfast at Cracker Barrell, went to the New Orleans Aquarium and Insectarium for the day.

Cracker Barrell and Waffle House are going to miss Denny and Emerson.  I am pretty sure they went at least once every weekend over the summer.

42

Was not the least bit interested in celebrating, just wanted to go to bed really.  I woke up not felling well and was convinced I was either getting Shingles or had West Nile.  Every muscle in my body ached, but I had to get up and go. I went to work for a few hours, then came home and we took Emerson to a Birthday party.  Ran a few errands and came home to show the house for the 3rd time Saturday.  Then met friends for Hibachi dinner with the kids. These are the almost too pretty to be real flowers Denny and Em gave me. I was glad to have the time with them, but was also glad to melt into bed that night.  I guess that's the state of things when you are 42 years old.

Friday Family Fun Day

So Friday was my first day off since June 3 and we took off to New Orleans, just the 3 of us.  We wanted to spend the day with Em before school started, kind of celebrate my birthday, but mostly just celebrate the summer being over and being together.  We took Emerson to the New Orleans Children's Museum when she was 3 and have not been back since. It was all new to her.

Of course the Grocery Store was one of her favorite parts of the Museum.  We got such a kick out of what the kids were putting in their baskets.  Very telling I think.  Emerson had fresh flowers, pastries and breads, boiled crabs and some veggies.  Denny checked her out.

 Fulfilling her destiny maybe?
As much time as we spend in New Orleans, we have never taken Em to ride the Trolley Car until now.

Kids Kafe' in the Children's Museum was her favorite part.  We sat, as did all the other parents, grandparents and siblings, while the kids take our orders, pretend cook, serve and clean up after us.  Not thinking the Food Service Industry is going to be for her...

Emerson made friends with some other kids and they preformed Little Red Riding Hood on stage.  All she did was "Direct" them what to do.

Greatest Show on Earth

Denny took Emerson to her first Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus a few weekends ago.

I am pretty sure she is considering changing her life dream from LSU Cheerleader to Circus Clown Girl. I mean how cute are these "clowns"??

Limbo...at the circus...not the ones I ever went to.

First Grade Girls Back to School Party

The Girls Back to School Party was a few weeks ago at The Enchanted Doll Mansion.  Kind of freaky, but the girls had a good time sipping tea and running around a Doll Museum like wild animals.

Emerson and Alyse had a great time catching up and as it turns out they are in the same class together this year.  Ms. Elizabeth has no idea what she is in for with these two.

FAITH

I have struggled for weeks trying to find the words for this and I still don't know how to say it.  I will keep it to this...
please pray for Lance, Amy, Wyatt and Reid Kiger as they begin the fight of their life for Reid, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and has begun treatment at St. Jude.
Pray for Lance and Amy's strength and conviction as they fight for Reid now, just as they fought to have him.  Pray that Reid is healed and that he lives the long, happy, healthy life God has planned for him. Pray that Wyatt finds an outlet to express his fear, anger and concerns for his brother and family.  And pray that Wyatt has some peace and acceptance during this school year being away from his parents.

Duncan

I have not done a great job of taking pictures of Duncan lately.  With all that has gone on over the summer, I did manage to get a few.  He is a much bigger dog than Baker was, so it is hard to remember he is only 1.  He lives to fetch and we really enjoy that about him.  He is getting better as he is aging, so there is a little light at the end of the tunnel for this dog.  Don't get me wrong, he will still try and eat every single one of Denny's socks, steal all of Emerson's stuffed animals and take every kitchen towel he can reach off the counter, but not as often as before.

First Day of First Grade

Well, this is it...The Big time.  First Grade.  Considering I sobbed as we walked into her classroom for her teacher visit last week, I guess it was OK that I held it together today.  In the car on the way there she said how excited she was to go back to school, but that she was a little nervous.  Only half a day today, so we will see how it goes.  Knowing her, it was more about being dramatic than actually feeling nervous.
