Swimming Lessons Part II

Well swimming lessons are over and I can't say I am too disappointed in that. I could not have picked a worse time of the day for her to do this, but it all turned out fine. She learned alot and is begging for me to get her "wrings like Ms. Wanda (Rhonda)". She holds her breath well and likes to scoop ice cream with her hands.

Thank You "Ms. Wanda". She would have made you proud at the pool on Saturday!

More Em and Maddie

Here are more pictures of Emerson and Maddie. We BBQ'd, made homemade ice cream and the girls played outside this past Saturday before Maddie headed back home on Sunday. Emerson loves to spend time with her.

We had a great time Maddie. We love you and we will see you in August.

A few more from this week

Here are a few random shots from this week.
The last 2 weeks, since we got home from the beach, have seemed so hectic. I feel like we are never home and always in the car. Swimming lessons will come to an end tomorrow. As promised we will celebrate the completion with a trip to Build-A-Bear. Snowballs and the anticipation of Build-A-Bear is what got her thru the lessons. She is finally settling into the idea of the lessons as it is over. Isn't that always the ways things end up!
Emerson wore her LSU Tigers attire to school today in honor of the Championship win! She watched the game with us and seems to like Baseball. Or maybe it was just the idea of getting to stay up that she really liked.
This was before swimming lessons one day this week. She insists that her hair be in ponytails to swim. Fine with me, it keep it out of her eyes. She is getting so tall and I think she will be very long waisted like me. Which equals hard to fit. Maybe she will continue to only want to wear dresses and I will not have to worry with pants as much.

Bird Watchin'

These 2 have been glued to the window most of the morning. It seems the baby doves are learning to fly today. They are practicing flying from the nest to just below in the flower beds. Baker is just as interested as we are.

The Momma Dove came to give them something to eat. I couldn't get that shot- Baker started barking and they froze then flew away. It's National Geographic over here today. Let's hope we don't spot any naked natives with nose rings in the yard next.

Maddie is in town

Emerson's cousin Maddie is in town from Seattle. They were being so silly these were the only pictures I could get. I am sure I will get better ones as the week progresses- Let's hope anyway.

Baby birds

I posted a picture of our nest and the Momma Dove a few weeks ago. Here are the pictures of our 2 baby doves. They are getting big so fast. I guess they will be gone soon and I will have a heart broken little girl on my hands. The tail end that you see is the Momma or the Daddy. They are so cute and Emerson loves to watch them.

Saturday night at Dixie

After an adult only dinner, we decided to take the kids to Dixie to ride a few rides. Not sure what we were thinking going on a Saturday night with a big concert, but we did it anyway and the kiddos had a fun time. Luke had more fun then all of us I think!

Evie and Emerson get so excited and have so much fun riding the rides- they did not care that it was 100 degrees. Of course we got an ice cream cone and then we all rode the Ferris Wheel as the last ride of the night. The girls thought it was really cool to be that high up. The adults however...not so much! Just because I grew up with rides it does not mean I have to like them.

Father's Day at Blue Bayou

Here are a few shots of Emerson and Isabelle at Blue Bayou. This was Isabelle's first time, so Emerson quickly showed her how it was done. They had a great time together playing on the slides and swimming in the water. Check out this action shot of Emerson. Look at her tongue...
Sliding is very serious business.

Happy Father's Day

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day. I think Denny did. We had a busy day. We started off by eating breakfast at the doughnut place by our house with our friends The McDermott's (Isabelle is Emerson's best friend). We went from there to Blue Bayou to say hi to my Dad and let Emerson play a little. The McDermott's came with us. Emerson and Isabelle had a great time. I will post those pictures in the next post. After a few hours at Blue Bayou we came for lunch and a nap to get rested up for Denny's family to come over for dinner. After almost an hour of trying to get Emerson to take a nap, several pops with the yard stick (this is what it has come to at almost 3 years old), many threats- that we did follow thru with, she finally went to sleep and slept for 2 hours. She woke up in time for the family to come over. We BBQ'd, had a great meal and Roman, Gabby and Emerson had fun playing.
These pictures are from a few days ago, but being that it is Father's Day I thought why not! I am sure Denny will have something to say about these!
Happy Father's Day and I am so thankful for my Dad and for the wonderful daddy Denny has become.

Will work for food, room and board

That's right! That's how we roll here. You have to give a little to get a little.
Seriously, I do try to make sure she participates in the cooking and cleaning that goes on here. How else will she learn?? But, she does love to vacuum.

Swimming Lessons

As most of you know, my child is truly her father's daughter. She never meets a stranger and holds complete conversations with total strangers. So, I thought private swimming lessons would be perfect for her as she is easily distracted and WAY to into everyone else's business. She has been very excited to start and swimming lessons started this week. She walked right into the pool on the first day and never looked back to see where I was. I got into the car and called Denny to say this was not going to be a problem at all. Well it was not a problem until she looked up and realized I was not there. This is so odd to me! She is not a clingy child and goes to Mother's Day out twice a week with no concerns as to where I am. Day 2 we thought it may be good if I stayed. Not so much! She refused to even get in the water. Crying that she wanted me. Day 2 was a bust. We regrouped and decided to get stern. We told her this was just like school and I would drop her off and then pick her up after it was over- end of discussion. She is not scared of the water or her teacher- she is just seeing how far she can get with us. We also started negotiating a bit. If she finishes each lesson with no fussing then we get a snowball on the way home after each lesson. Then, when all the lessons are over and she has not fussed or cried then we will take her to Built-A-Bear. She seems excited about these new developments, but does not want to discuss the fact that I will not be there. Day 3 comes and we are on our way. She starts to whimper and wants me to stay. Needless to say, we compromised with me staying and if she starts to cry or is not being a good listener- then I go and come back when it is over. This has worked and we have had 2 days of good lessons. Hopefully we will finish with no other big issues. She sure loves her snowballs in the afternoons...at 5:30 right before dinner...that gets her wound up and bouncing off the walls...that makes me push dinner an hour or so later until she can come down from the sugar high! It is summer time and she seems to be having a good time now.

Rosemary Beach

Our friends the Overby's (Scott, Amanda, Isabella and Avery) and the Lange's (Holly, Allen, Ford and Jake) were in Rosemary beach the same time were in Destin. Denny, Em and I went and spent a day with them. Emerson adores Bella, Avery Ford and Jake and had a great time swimming, eating, playing on the beach, eating and hanging out with them. Did I mention we ate a lot with them...

Jake and Emerson have this special connection and he is so good with her. He read her a book and gave her marshmallows to help her wake up from her nap. Who wouldn't wake up in a good mood if you were given marshmallows upon opening your eyes!
