It's Banana's

Emerson: Mom, I know how to say monkey in Spanish.

Me: Oh really, what is the word in Spanish?

Emerson: Chimpanzee

Fairy Princess

Emerson was invited to a Superhero and Princess party last weekend. As with most days with Emerson, she makes up her own rules for things and insisted she be a Fairy Princess for the party. She was very cute!
Amy made Emerson this shirt and it was perfect with her outfit.

Some days it's all just too much

Tuesdays are especially long for us. After a full day of school, we have a few hours before Ballet at 5pm. So, instead of going all the way home, we hang out in Baton Rouge for the 3 hours. Some days Emerson handles it better than others. Yesterday, she was exhausted.
Grouchy is the first sign of sleepiness for her.
Zoning out... getting very sleepy.
This is sooo Denny!

First Day of Pre-K

First day at Dunham today. She was so excited!

This is outside of Emerson's classroom. She was so anxious to go in with the rest of the kids she was not interested in us taking pictures, so this is all I got.

Can't wait to hear what she has to say about her first full day.

On my 40th birthday

I do not typically care much about birthdays and getting older, but this one is a pretty big milestone I guess. I woke up this morning so thankful for a wonderful family, daughter, circle of friends and especially husband. At 40 there are so many things I have learned in my life that I pray Emerson will know at this milestone in hers.

Emerson, may you know friendship. True friendship that makes you giggle and laugh at something not so funny and cry when it hurts your feeling and makes you think the world is coming to an end. True friendship is rare and I hope you have at least one you can count on no matter what. I know I do! I want you to have a strong sense of self and know exactly what you want. I want you to know how to ask for guidance, but understand it is you that will make the choice. May you own your words AND actions and understand there are consequences for both. May you learn that there are very few things in life that are actually out of your control.

I hope you love with all the passion in you and fight with it as well. I want you to learn to walk away. Know that is okay to walk away from something that is toxic in your life and there will be many.

Most importantly today, I want you to know that I love you and I am so thankful for you. There is nothing I would not do for you. You gave me great joy today and I thank you.

Denny, you surprised me! You are so thoughtful. Thank you again. I love you!

Balloon Festival

We took Emerson to the Balloon Festival last night. She has never been, we are usually out of town for this. SHE LOVED IT. It has been at least 8 years since Denny and I have been and it has really turned into a huge deal.
Emerson in the fire truck...pushing the horn!

Em said that the balloon with the tooth on it was the tooth fairies balloon and insisted I take a picture.

Bye Bye Summer Lites

We took Emerson to the last Laser Light Show for this year. Once school starts the park will only be open on the weekend and they will not do the LaserLite show then. She has been asking to go back, so we took her and a few friends came along.
Isabelle had never been able to make it to ride rides OR see the show, so they came along. Isabelle is so little, she typically can not ride rides due to height restrictions. Needless to say, she was thrilled to be able to ride some with Emerson.

Jackson joined us too. He had gotten his shots the day before and still was not feeling to good. It was about 100 degrees outside, so I am sure that did not help matters either.

Ready for school

We have spent most of this week making sure we had everything we needed to start school soon. The biggest part of the preparation involved shots. 4. 2 in each leg. That is alot for a kid to handle to be honest. On the bright side, she is done with vaccinations until she is 11...in the year 2018. When the doctor told me that and I saw it in writing I really had to take that in for a minute. 2018. Seriously. She ran fever that afternoon and that evening because of the shots, but woke up fine. Luckily, this day was a washout and the rain kept us inside. On the cough resting after shots. A snack always makes things better.
Doing a little painting to pass the time.

It's My Party

Isabelle's had a jump party with a few of her friends. The kids always have fun and it was particularly interesting to see Emerson having to share Isabelle with other friends. Emerson is used to having Isabelle all to herself, so there were a few hurt feelings at first, but they all ended up running around together. GIRLS...WHAT DRAMA!

Isabelle's 4th birthday

We celebrated Isabelle's actual birthday with her at their house for cake, ice cream and presents. Isabelle asked Emerson to sleepover at her house a few night before as part of her birthday celebration. It seems that even at 4 years old girls will be girls and talk until all hours of the night.

Emerson and Isabelle have so much fun together and enjoy being down the street from each other. Several evening this summer they have spent riding bikes, playing at the playground or going to the pool together. The McDermott's have found a house in Baton Rouge and have put their house on the market. Emerson is going to need therapy for sure when Isabelle moves. She talks about Lola moving off and other kids that have moved in the neighborhood and now Isabelle. Not to mention the 3 girls that live next door have put their house on the market to move back into Baton Rouge. Will be sad when they move!
