Bakin' for Jesus 2015

As is our Christmas Eve tradition, we bake, or craft, in honor of Jesus's Birthday.  This year she wanted to make Gingerbread cookies.  So, in her PJ's she cut, baked and decorated gingerbread cookies.

Emerson said this one was wearing an ugly Christmas sweater.  I thought it was kind of funny!

The Nutcracker

Another fun activity we have done over the break was a Mother/Daughter Lunch.  A group of 4th grade moms got the girls together for lunch, a gift exchange and then we sat together and watched The Nutcracker.  And what made it even more special is the Lila was in it.  She was a Cook, so that was pretty exciting for the girls to cheer on their friend.

The Lodge

Emerson and Kaka went with a different look for their Gingerbread House this year.  Dreaming of some cooler weather, they decided on a snow lodge/log cabin in the woods kind of look.  Emerson said she thinks it is her favorite one yet.

Happenings over the Holiday Break

We have been pretty busy over the break so far.  Emerson and Lila decorated a Gingerbread House.  They did a pretty good job, I think. This house went home with Lila because Emerson had the one she and Kaka decorated. I will post that next.

We rode and looked at Christmas Lights in Port Allen. Didn't take long, but Em enjoyed it.

And we Rocked the Rowe with snow, Santa AND Horse and Carriage rides. We have never done this event before and it was pretty cute and extremely crowded.

Emerson got a pretty awesome and kind of intimidating 1000 piece Christmas puzzle from Aunt Holly.  She spent 2+ days putting it together, with some help.  She was focused and determined to do  as much by herself as she could.  What better way to pass the time on rainy days.  The hard part of this puzzle wasn't just the size, but was the shape.

She was so proud.  I think we all were as we did it as a family! Emerson was not real excited when she had to take it apart.  But we did have to eat on the dining room table.

Christmas Program 2015

Another Christmas Program under our belt. It was entitled Christmas In Reverse.  It was the first for the Music and Art Teacher and the last for all of the 4th Graders that put it on.  Pretty sad for all of us parents and we all had a hard time keeping ourselves together. The Program was fabulous!   Emerson was a sheep...with no speaking part.  She was not happy, but embraced her inner sheep.

Zoo Lights

Emerson is finally finished with tests and projects for this school year/semester.  Last week was pretty intense with multiple tests a day and a project due.  She did great and had a pretty good attitude considering very little spare time.  I think the Elf may have had something to do with her attitude, but I don't care.  Maybe he could hang around all the time... Last night, on a school night with no homework, Courtney and I took the girls to dinner and to walk thru the BR Zoo lights.  We figured they deserved a fun evening.  Even on a school night.

Honor Choir

Honor Choir is over for the semester.  They had their performance during Chapel last week.  They were wonderful! Emerson really enjoys being a part of it!

OH MY

Lauren and I got an email from Denny a few days ago.  It was entitled, "Found this on my computer.  I cried."  Look at these babies.

I CAN'T STAND IT!

Emerson and Evie's Weekend

Evie Kate spent the night with us a few weeks ago.  The girls had a ball together as always.  They made and decorated cupcakes which they very much enjoyed.

We had to get them up kind of early to get them dressed for CBI's Breakfast with Santa.  Since Charlie works there also, it worked out great that Evie was with us for the breakfast.

We made it home in time for Charlie and Onnie to come over and pick up Evie.  They were also picking up Reid, who was spending the night at their house in St. Francisville.  Well the girls did a little conspiring and guess who also went to spend the night in St. Francisville...  Ms. Emerson.  Lord that was a house full of children. Em, Evie, Luke, Liam and Reid.  They went to the live Nativity and kids activities at their church that evening.  The next morning, Denny and I made the big trip into St. Francisville and we all had lunch and took the kids to the Christmas Parade.  The kids had such a fun time together.  This is how the ride home went...

Sound asleep. I'd say they had a great time.
