Santa

Emerson in front of our tree Christmas Eve.
Santa left her lots of fun things. Her big gift was the Barbie Jeep, which she really could care less about.Waking up to see her gifts. We had to remind her Santa had come. She did not really get that part.

She really likes her princess dress, the stickers and the puzzles. She liked the Jeep for about 20 minutes then wanted to come inside. She did mention that she needed some shoes to go with her new princess dress. Apparently Santa was not aware she wanted shoes! Maybe the Easter bunny will be better informed!

Just a few of her favorite things

Have I mentioned Emerson LOVES puzzles? She does and is very good at them. Aunt Kim, Uncle Ne and Jack gave her this awesome Melissa & Doug floor puzzle. She puts it together over and over again. They also gave her an apron and oven mit for her kitchen. Thank goodness! Now she has her own oven mit and I don't have to share or go looking for mine.

Makin' cakes for Jesus

After the Baby Jesus Birthday party conversation, Emerson was very concerned about Baby Jesus, his party and most important- his birthday cake. She wanted to know why I wasn't making the cake. I told her we could make him a cake together. So, Christmas Eve we made cakes for Baby Jesus. I think this will be a new tradition for us. We had lots of fun and she got to ice the cakes and decorate them too. AND she got to eat a few.

Singing in the Rain

ReRe gave Emerson this adorable raincoat last night for Christmas. Em was a little unsure as to what it was and Re Re explained to her that now she could go out in the rain and not get wet.
Well, this morning when Em realized it was raining, she insisted on putting the raincoat on. After all, "I can go out in the rain with my coat on. Re Re said". And so we let her go out in the rain because "ReRe said.."

After she finished playing in the rain. She was cold and wet. We wrapped her up in her new ladybug towel she got from Santa.
Thanks ReRe she loves it.

The True Meaning of Christmas

Denny: "Emerson. Do you know what Christmas is?"

Emerson: Blank stare at Denny.

Denny: "Christmas is Baby Jesus' Birthday. So, when we celebrate Christmas, we are celebrating when Jesus was born."

Emerson: "IT"S BABY JESUS' BIRTHDAY DADDY?"

Denny: "Yes, it is."

Emerson: "MOMMY, IT'S BABY JESUS BIRTHDAY AND HE IS HAVING A PARTY AT THE JUMP-JUMP PLACE!"

Party at school

This past Tuesday was Emerson's last day of school for the Christmas break. They had there party during lunch with chicken fingers, chips, juice and cookies. They then got to open a gift. Very exciting stuff! Emerson got a Christmas book. She loves it and has already memorized it and can "read by myself".

She has talent

We went to Jackson, MS this past weekend for the Overby's annual cookie decorating party. Emerson had a ball and is very good at decorating cookies. I guess she gets that from Denny!
I was convinced she would throw up on the way home, as she ate more candy in 3 hours than she has ever had at Aunt Kim's house. Luckily, she did not. I SO loved this party and will be stealing the idea and having one of my own next year.
Keep in mind Emerson sees some of these kids a few times a year at parties when we go to Jackson. We sent them all into the den to play while we cleaned up. They decided to play guitar hero. Emerson appointed herself head singer. Apparently no one minded. I think she may moonlight as the led singer in a rock band one day.

Snow Day!

She was not that thrilled and did not want to spend much time out in it- which was perfectly fine by me! At least we have the pictures.

Baker loved it!

Back up and running

Just in time for Christmas!!
Sorry for the long break- new computer now, so we are good to go.
Hmmm. Where did we leave off...
This is Shaw's Breakfast with Santa a few weeks ago. This little girls is our friend Isabelle. They live down the street from us, she goes to school with Em one day a week and her father- Alex works at Shaw as well. The girls ate lots of pancakes and candy canes and loved Santa. Well, Em
was not too sure about him until she caught wind that you got a candy cane after you sat on his lap. That is all she had to hear.

Never going to be able to catch up

So, I know how long it has been since I posted, but there is a good reason. I have been having lots of computer issues and I have a new computer, but I have not transferred to the new one yet. I can't upload anymore photos onto the old computer- I am afraid I will lose them.

Once I get the new one going I will post again. I have so many great pics of Em and I know it will be hard to get them posted for everyone, but I will try hard.

Hope everyone has a Holiday!

Pickin out a Tree

We went with Kaki and picked out our Christmas tree today. Emerson had so much fun trying to find the right one. She liked them all and did wonder where the pink ones were. She was also very concerned about the trees that had fallen or were stacked up and not put our yet. She wanted them to all be standing up and in water. Here is Emerson and Kaki next to Kaki's tree
HUM... Which one do I want?

She was not really ready to go, but it was cold!
I think she is really going to love the tree and lights this year. Now, if we can just convince her
to get near Santa then we will be set!

Happy Turkey Day

We have so much to be thankful for and we hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Emerson made her festive hat at school the last day before the holiday break. She wore it most of the day Thursday.
The last day of school before the break she got up very early, so I knew she would be really tired once I picked her up from school. She asked to watch one show before taking a nap and I agreed. She also asked to get "Cupcake" her horse out of her bed. I thought this odd, as she usually likes to have "Roar" around the house with her. We went and got Cupcake. I turned her show on and proceeded to do some things around the house. Within 15 minutes, she had fallen asleep curled up with cupcake in her chair.

Sorry for the long break in posts, but we have been very busy lately. I have lots to post and I will get caught up this week.

New Jewels

I went out of town this weekend and I brought Emerson back a new crown. Hers broke and she has been lost without it. The crown came packaged with earring, a necklace and a ring. She has not been without these new jewels since we opened them. She will not wear the earring, but she does want them near her at all times, so she puts them in a handbag and insists on carrying it around.
This morning we got dressed and ready for school and she ran to her room to put on the jewels. After 10 times of asking me if she can take all her new accessories to school and after 10 times of me telling her no, she finally wised up and asked to bring them in the car. So, here we are going to school this morning. By the way, the minute she got in the car when I picked her up from school the jewels went back on.
Denny took this picture this evening as she pranced around in the jewels AND her princess dress. She is such a girly girl.

Too Cool for School

I know I have not posted in awhile, but things have just been very busy the last few weeks.
This was taken last week as she sported around the house with this chosen pair of sunglasses. She has multiple pairs... Pretty cute I think.

Daddy's big helper

We went to the nursery today and got pansies to plant in the yard for the fall. Of course, Emerson wanted to help Denny plant them.

This morning everybody wanted Daddy lovin'.

She LOVES them Aunt Mel!
Thanks

The Tigers may have played and lost a pitiful game, but this fan sure does like dressing up for the game! It is all about what you wear!

"MOOOOOOOOM, I can't do it"

These pictures remind me of a commercial I see often. It is the one about that "Amazing" over the shoulder, adjustable strap, genuine leather bag that holds all of the contents of your purse PLUS 2 full size bottles of water. Do you know the commercial I am talking about?
Well, this morning Emerson struts out of her playroom pushing the popcorn popper, holding every purse she owns- 10-13 I think- on her arm, is trying to hold a large plastic alligator wearing her pink boa and hawain lae all the while trying to put on a pair of yellow sunglasses. She quickly catches the reds because she drops all of it. What follows next is the very dramatic fall to the floor with the "MOOOOOOOM, I can't do it".
My instruction in passing- trying not to encourage the whining and crying- is to put some of her purses down into the larger ones and carry all of her stuff that way. She looks up and it was like a light went off. She stopped the whining and crying and went to it. She felt a real sense of accomplishment. I was just glad the whining stopped.
