Good-Bye 2nd Grade

Well we are done with 2nd Grade.  And a wonderful end at that!  At the beginning of the year, Emerson challenged herself to make it to the 50 point club for AR.  She worked real hard and made it.  She was so happy and of course we are so proud of her.  She set her mind to something and she did it!
Meet ARchie, the newest member of our family.  ARchie is Emerson's congratulation's prize for reaching her AR goals and making it to the 50 point club.
And of course we find ourselves here again.  In that place at the end of each year having to say goodbye to a school routine, a teacher we love, friends not returning next year and all things academic. I am looking back in fondness, but looking forward to everything 3rd grade brings and more importantly looking forward to the summer break.  Have a safe and happy summer!

Mother's Day Tea

The big 2nd Grade event at Dunham is Mother's Day Tea.  Wow was it special and there were times when not a single Mother had a dry eye.  The kids served our plates, gave us hand drawn gifts and preformed for us.

A few of Em's buddies

And no event would be complete without some silly girls.

As part of the décor, were all of the Mother's self portraits drawn by their children.  So, here's me!!

Easter 2014

After our Easter Vigil Marathon the night before, we were pretty tired Easter Sunday. However, Emerson managed to wake up early to see what the bunny had left. We might have even asked her if she really needed us to get up to see her basket.  And we might have gone back to bed after...

She got some books, a puzzle, some Lego's, a nightgown, a dress and some candy.  Pretty uneventful.  So less exciting at this age.

Big Girl Tea Party

Over the Easter Break, we had a Tea Party outside in the beautiful weather.  When Em was little we had tea parties all the time, but have not had one in awhile.  The Tea equaled Lemonade and the snacks were of course, Easter Candy. Fresh flowers from the yard added a nice touch I think.

This is Lester.  He was in charge of Duncan's Tea Party Treats.

First Communion and Confirmation

Easter Vigil was Emerson's First Communion and Confirmation.  We did a terrible job taking pictures. But we did get pictures of Emerson with her Peer Companion, Confirmation Sponsor and the Grandmother's.

This is Maria Coleman, Emerson's Peer Companion.

Aunt Mary Furlow is Emerson's Confirmation Sponsor.
And Lila and her Mom spent Easter Vigil at St. George to see Emerson and Julian participate.
Considering the lengthy Vigil Service, it went well and was pretty special having Emerson and Julian be apart of the entire Service.

Spring Audubon Zoo trip

We went to New Orleans a few Saturdays ago and spent some time at the Zoo.  It was a quick trip thru the zoo, as they were closing early for a Charity event.

Within the Flamingo Exhibit, there are geese that hang out there.  This particular goose was using her beak to mound up leaves around her eggs.  We watched her for awhile and Em could not get over how this goose would nest right along next to the Flamingo's.

We often hear Peacocks while walking around the zoo, but to actually see some walking around are rare.  This day there were 3 walking around, showing their feathers and moving within the trees.  Their colors are spectacular.

And no visit would be complete without seeing these guys...

The Fanciest of Nancy's

Emerson and Lila, the Theatre Duo, went to their last show of this season a few weeks ago.  It was Fancy Nancy and they attended a "Fancy" Tea before the show.  They had snacks and made some "Fancy" crafts.

Photos with Nancy after were pretty fun.  This duo looking forward to the next Manship Line-up in the Fall.
