Afton Villa and Gardens

Last Sunday, we spent the day in St. Francisville visiting friends and we went to Afton Villa and Gardens.  Wow, what a beautiful place.  This was the site of a plantation home dating back to the 1800's.  It burned down in the 60's but the owners keep the formal gardens planted and allow public visitation October-June.  You walk around the ruins of the house and all of the beautiful gardens and statues.

The trees are unbelievable and there are a lot of Azaleas that are original to home.  Peaceful little place for sure.  There were lots of photographers taking senior pictures, artists sketching the grounds and people like us just taking it all in and touring the grounds.  Check it out if you get the chance!
