And the winner is...

I am SO going to win the Mother of the Year Award! I feel just awful. Emerson has had a bad runny nose for about 2 weeks now, but that was her only symptom so I did not find it necessary to take her to the Doctor just for that. Well, the nose started to get green, but again no other symptoms. She has been waking up some during the night which is highly unlike her, but we blew that off too. So, today I decided to go ahead and take her to the Doctor mainly because her nose is not getting any better and turning a fluorescent shade of green and we are getting real tired of wiping it all day long. This poor child has a double ear infection. I feel horrible for blowing all of this off for over a week. But does this child look sick to you??

A week of antibiotics and she will be good as new.

I have added a few links to some of our favorite websites that feature kids music and videos. Emerson loves to watch the videos and dance and sing along.

Dan Zanes is a cool, funky dude that we discovered from Playhouse Disney. His music is so fun it will have the whole family signing and dancing along. We just love him!

Laurie Berkner is another favorite that we found on Noggin and her videos are included in the Jack's Big Music Show Program. Great show and Laurie rocks! She was recently featured on The View.

It is no secret that Emerson is a Doodlebop roady. She adores them and is in love with Moe. We also found them on Disney.

Take a look. Enjoy!

More than words

I have been meaning to write down everything Emerson has been saying lately. Especially the words she has created to mean certain things. She cracks us up, so here are a few I thought I would share. I am sure Denny and I are the only ones that are going to think this is cute- humor us...

Nu Nus= Noodles
Bew Bews= Blueberries (her favorite things in the whole world)
A bee- Any bug like creature that is smaller than "a tweet tweet"
Tweet tweets- birds or anything that flys that is larger than "a bee"
YoYo- yogurt
Nak- a Kleenex, paper towel, napkin (cloth or paper) or toilet paper
Chew Daddy/Mommy- her response when one of us sneezes or coughs
Roar- what she calls a lion or a tiger and what she has named her new stuffed animal tiger she got for Valentine's Day
LoLo- what she calls Lola Avery
Beep Beep- her Little Tikes car that she plays in outside

This is all I can think of right now. It is so much fun watching her speech develop. I have wondered what her voice will sound like...Will it change as she gets older?
Such a fun time. I hope I remember it forever!

A few things about us

If you would have asked me pre-Emerson what I thought about people with blogs, I would have quickly and whitingly told you they clearly have too much time on their hands. Wow, how things have changed. Do I have too much time on my hands... there are moments yes, but I so understand now why people blog- especially when you have a child. I look forward to reading my friends blogs as a way to stay in touch with them. Life is busy and we don't always have time to pick up the phone.

It has been a year since I left work, well my paying job that is, to stay home with this sassy, high spirited, energetic little blessing. I truly never thought I would get pregnant, so everyday I look at her I realize what a miracle she is. Oh, and let's get one things straight- SHE LOOKS LIKE ME! Seriously! I had blond hair, blue eyes and her petite build until I was six. Talk about things changing!

Emerson is 19 months old now and keeping us on our toes. Her personality is really developing and we are starting to get a sense of who she is. She is social and at her best in a crowd- clearly a Denny trait. She gets her anal sense of order from me. Everything has a place and SHE has to put it where it belongs or tell you where it goes. She sees everything as either black or white with no in-between. This clearly comes from me- not always a positive trait. She attends Jefferson Baptist Mother's Day out 2 times a weeks and enjoys it. It has proven to be wonderful experience for both of us so far.

I hope to post often Enjoy!
