"Byself"

Emerson played "byself" a good bit today. It was a blessing as there were lots of things to get done today. I am making her Halloween costume and cookies for her class and our Halloween Open house on Friday night for Trick or Treat. She asked to color and for stickers, but she made sure to let me know it was "byself in pwayroom". Rock on sister...do not let me stop you!

Since this is Halloween week, I will preface the whole costume thing with this- Denny and I are very excited about her costume (did I mention I am making it), however we are not real convinced she will wear it. We talk to her about it all the time and have shown her parts of it as it is being made, but she does not want to put it on. There is always next year I guess.

Not much going on

Emerson went to Kaki's Wednesday. They had lots of fun and she was so tired when I picked her up she fell asleep before I was out of the neighborhood. That yell0w round thing is not a ball, it is a lemon she picked off of Mom's tree and insisted on holding. Today we stayed in- it was supposed to be rainy and nasty. We colored and played. She was a princess for most of the day. She looks like a pissed princess to me.

We have to constantly tell Emerson to not crawl up the side of the couch OR sit on the side of the couch. Last night I think she was really trying to push some buttons and decided to lay down. We got the very dramatic sigh and fake yawn as if she was tired and really going to rest right there.
Emerson is developing quite the personality. As my Mom put it Wednesday, "She has quite an imagination." She is role playing much more and pretends a lot. She runs around the house because bumble bees are chasing her...or a monster...or there is a monster in her room- Just a few examples. I foresee her to be one of those children who tells very elaborate and untrue stories to her teachers. We will see.

Oak Alley Arts Festival

We went to the Oak Alley Arts Festival on the Grounds of Oak Alley Plantation Saturday. They had lots of booths set up and a petting zoo and pony rides for the kids. We have never been to this before. The grounds are so beautiful and it was such a pretty day. Her Pony's name was Rocket.

Trying not to laugh

I love this series of pictures. I was swinging her today and she was being very serious. I was doing silly things to get her to crack a smile.

"Gickers"

Emerson loves to "play gickers". I let her take pages of stickers and stick them on colorbook pages. Hours, well maybe 30 minutes max, of entertainment. She was a little more quiet than usual this evening and SO proud of herself. Here are a few pictures from Saturday. We got this really cute and different LSU kids shirt last Saturday at the Arts Market downtown. Emerson loves the little tiger on her shirt.

"I 'hose' Momma. You take picture"

It is no secret that Denny and I are big fans of America's Next Top Model. Emerson is a fan now as well. If you did not see last night's episode, Tyra was helping each "gurl" find her signature pose. Or as Emerson started saying- "Hose". She turned to us and said "I hose momma. Take picture". This is Emerson hosing-

Em hosing with Baker. Baker not real thrilled about hosing with all the paparazzi around snapping pics. Or me telling him to be still and to look at the camera. Could go either way.

Feeling Yucky

Tuesday was a rough day for Emerson. Monday evening she started to feel bad and started running a high fever. Tuesday morning we went straight to the doctor and she ran 104 fever at the doctor's office. They were concerned about pneumonia and meningitis. Luckily, she just has a very bad sinus infection. After a few hours at the Dr's office, a prescription for an antibiotic and a rocephin shot we made it home. She ran fever the rest of the day and into the night. She woke up this morning doing much better. She is taking it easy at home today and wants to go to school. If the fever stays gone, then she should be good to go on Friday.

It is always smart to keep your vacuum cleaner close when you are not feeling well. I am either training her well or creating a mini-me. Too early to tell.
