Emerson spent Thursday with Mom. They decorated their Haunted Halloween Cookie House, played dress-up, hunted for lizards, ate a sno-ball, ate cookie sprinkles that were meant for the haunted house, danced, played in the tee-pee, ate more sprinkles, had another sno-ball and danced some more.

New Orleans Saturday
We spent Saturday dodging the rain in New Orleans. We, along with our friends the McDermott's (Em's bestest buddy Isabelle), enjoyed the monthly Arts Market in the park at Carolton and Claiborne. The girls had a fun time watching, singing and dancing along to the Freddy Fred kids show again reinforcing the idea that my child may one day be a roady, dancer or singer. She was enthralled by the band! The McDermott's are from New Orleans so as the rain rolled in they left us to visit family. Of course- we headed to Houston's for lunch!
Our whole point of going to New Orleans was to attend the special viewing of Menari, an endangered Sumatran orangutan who was born at the Audubon Zoo on June 10. We have a Membership and really enjoy the special events they put on for members. The rain had ended just as we got there and the sun came out in full force. It was hot, but we spent a few hours getting to really see Emerson's favorite animals up close. Later in the afternoon's at the zoo they do animal feeding and I guess the rains had scared everyone away because it was not too crowded. We saw Menari who Emerson says has crazy hair like her. Very cute and so human baby like! The giraffe's, sea lions and orangutans were being fed while we were there and we enjoyed seeing that as well. We also went to see, upon Emerson's request, the alligators, cougar's, black bears and the elephants.

Go Tigers!
She did not know, but the LSU vs. Vanderbilt game was going to be her first LSU Football experience. The weather did not allow that to happen, but she looked the part anyway. The face paint was from earlier that morning. Denny took her to the Shaw Center for the Second Saturday's events they hold each month. She loves to go get her face painted, do the craft and then listen to music and watch people perform.

She can't help it- she has a refined palet!
Me: "Emerson, Tuesday is your first day of School and you will not eat lunch at school. So, when Mommy picks you up I will take you to eat lunch before your appointment with Dr. Wood. What do you think you want for lunch?"
Emerson: "Well, Mom. Maybe Greek or French Market Bistro."
Me: (Amazed, surprised and wondering if I heard her correctly) "What Emerson? What would you like to eat?"
Emerson: (Frustrated because she has to repeat herself combined with a bit if an attitude) "Greek Mom- you know KIBI... or I said FRENCH MARKET BISTRO."
Me: "Oh, okay." (Stunned as I was expecting something along the lines of McDonald's or Chick Fil-A)

Mani/Pedi
I guess it is never too early to to teach a girl the importance of manicures and pedicures. Emerson spent the day with Mom last week and they went to Molly to get the works. It seems Emerson thought she was something else and sat as still as she ever has before- which is a miracle to me. Emerson even got to pick her own color polish and guess what color it was- PINK.
First Day of "Big Kid" school
In her mind, "Big kid School" is where she went today. It is just upstairs from where she has been going for Mother's Day Out since she was 1. First Day for new teachers, new class room and new friends- mixed with a few old ones too. She had a great day, but was a little concerned she did not go to computer lab though. She said maybe she will go on Friday. Not sure what was up with the funny smile and all the teeth today, but she did make sure her hand was on her hip- it is very important.

Never before seen
My mom takes great pictures. Alot of them. Of alot of things. HOWEVER, she never takes them off the camera! So, I took almost 200 pictures off her camera this week and found some great pictures dating back, to I don't know, Emerson's Christening!!!! I thought I would share a few of my favorites.

Snuggle buddy
This was one evening over the last few weeks when Emerson was real sick and in our bed. We had to put drops in her ears, so she would get in our bed to watch TV while the drops drained into her ear. Baker would snuggle up to her most nights to keep her company. He likes to get up on the bed when she is there to get some lovin'. They were cute!
Watercolors
In an attempt to keep one little girl busy (That goodness Mother's Day Out starts next week as I am running out of ideas), I introduced Emerson to watercolors last week. I needed her to paint some wrapping paper for Kaki's b-day gift and she did a great job. I may start selling it on Ebay...kidding...maybe. They paint with watercolors a little bit at school, so she already knew how to dip the brush in the water and so on. Emerson had fun and Kaki loved her original wrapping paper.
Western Day
Kaki told Emerson it was Western Day at her house last week, so of course she dressed the part. Emerson had no idea she would spend several hours riding and feeding Prince- her new horse friend. Mom and Dad have friends who have a barn and horse stables out off of Hoo Sho Too and they surprised Emerson with a visit to the stables to meet Prince. Of course Emerson had lots of fun and Mom said she rode that horse like she had been doing it all her life.
