Rapid Growth

Just to give you a little perspective on how fast Duncan is growing, take a look at this picture we took the first few days he came home.AND TODAY!I think he is going to be a bigger dog than Baker was. He is all legs and feet right now. I must say (as I am knocking on wood) that his week at Petropolitan, while we were gone, playing and socializing with other dogs did him some good and was just what he needed at this age. They do Doggie Day Care there and as ridiculous as it sounds, we plan to take him once a week. It helps with the chewing and nipping at us and until he gets a little older he needs the interaction with other dogs. The things we do for our kids...

Dotty the Leopard

This was Emerson weekend to have Dottie the Leopard, her class mascot. So, we have taken him everywhere this weekend. She took some pictures of him with my phone. Pretty good ones I think.Saturday was Rural Life's annual Harvest Days celebration and we had a great time. We did the Corn Maze, painted pumpkins, went on a hayride, and learned about how people lived in old times.Emerson got to drive the horse drawn carriage.

Last ones from Maine

This was the first lighthouse Emerson's remembers seeing.
Kaka got Emerson a puzzle and she hung out putting it together while we cooked dinner.Acadia National Park was one of the places I wanted to take Denny and Emerson to. Emerson was 1 when we went the first time and Denny was not on that trip with us. It was a 3 hour drive from Boothbay to Acadia and the weather got worse the closer we got. Once all the up to Cadillac Mountain the weather and wind was so bad you could not stay out long. The winds were at least 30 mile an hour and visibility was almost zero. This is the only picture we got. Denny and I took Emerson out on the top even though the weather was bad. We drove 3 hours to get there and wanted to at least try and see something.

Tied up

Emerson had fun "wrapping" Andy and Berta up. Well, they got their turn too.

More Maine

Some Kaka and Papa pics. These are the times I hope she remembers.

Boothbay Aquarium

Boothbay has an aquarium right around the corner from the Marina. We were first a little disappointed at first, as it is VERY small. However, this aquarium is so hands on and only displays animals that live in the area. It was very interactive and we ended up having a grea time. We were there right before closing and we got to watch them feed everything. They had lobsters, sharks, rays, mussels, clams, starfish, puffer fish and we got to see what a baby lobster looks like. That was awesome and it is incerdible that any survive. They are no larger than a quarter as babies.Em touching a small shark. This is the coolest Lobster ever, Half blue and half red. This guy was pretty mad looking!

County Fair

We drove to Oxford, Maine to go to a pretty traditional County Fair. It was a cool, but sunny day and Emerson had fun riding rides and feeding the animals in the Pretty Farm. We had our first fOreo here. I had to try one and was not expecting to like it. OH MY it is heaven. In Maine, they have Fried Dough stations. Similar to a funnel cake, but in my opinion better. It is like the flaky dough of a biscuit, but thinner. You can top with a number of savory or sweet toppings. This dough is what the Oreo was fried in and the adults tasted them. SO SO YUM! Glad to say I have tasted one.
I love these action shots of her. Look at the expresion on her face.Em and Den in the fun house.
Em got a real kick out of this out house.
Of course, she rode a horse.Got her face painted!
This fair had all the traditional animals we are used to, but the big surprise was the Alpaca. Emerson just wanted to say it was a Llama. They put the animal food in ice cream cones. How smart! Too bad people in Louisiana could not come up with that. This way there are no worries the animals are going to eat the paper cups and can eat the cones.
